Also, we announce our 3rd Annual Scare Slam at the London Horror Festival (23rd October, 7pm, Old Red Lion).

Strat & Alex do Art: The cut-up technique (or découpé in French) is a literary technique in which a text is cut up and rearranged to create a new text. The concept can be traced to at least the Dadaists of the 1920s.  We gave them a copy of the Evening Standard each and let them run riot with the scissors (NB: no actual running with scissors occurred - that's not allowed).

Ellie and Matt are back on the proverbial horse, bringing you an 'unplugged' episode packed with film reviews (Wonder Woman, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, FF8, Snatched, A Dog's Purpose), chat about the latest TV sensation, 'The Handmaid's Tale', Matt's thoughts on the first part of 'Angels in America' at the National, the return of Edinburgh Fringe Roulette, and some interruptions from Ellie's cat.

Some Treachery: A Miss McSkimming Mystery

A radio play recorded in front of a live audience (hilarious sound effects included).

 

What at first seems like a trivial case soon reveals a plot that could shake the very foundations of the British Empire. With her faithful valet by her side, Miss McSkimming must deal with butlers, the police, mysterious men in the shadows and a hippo, to get to the bottom of what could be her biggest case yet.

 

A rollicking comedy with a chic lady investigator and mysteries abounding, this piece promises to delight audiences, young and old!

 

Performed by Jessica Bailes, Ellie Pitkin, Chris Starkey, Helen Stratton and Richard Stratton, with live foley from Andrew Crane and David Turnbull.

 

Recorded live at the Putney Arts Theatre on Saturday 13th May 2017, as part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe.

A retro film review of 'The Magic Christian' off of 1969, and an interview with the cast and creatives of upcoming radio play, 'Some Treachery: A Miss McSkimming Mystery'. Written by Richard Stratton, this piece of new writing will be performed as part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe at the Putney Arts Theatre on Sat 13th May, 6pm.

This week on the show Iasha is joined by Matt and Andy Crane. 

Matt reviews Hidden Figures and we chat briefly about Moonlight and the Oscars fiasco.

We also listen to a piece of new writing written by Nicole Locke, called Moth Man.

Andy is on the show to tell us about the next Blackshaw production he is going to be a part of, entitled Some Treachery: A Miss McSkimming Mystery, it is a live radio play written by Richard Stratton, with Andy performing live foley on stage. Come along on the 13th of May to experience Andy trying to create the sounds of hippos, among many other noises!

 

For the first show back into 2017 Iasha is joined by Matt and a very new voice to the show, Sinead Burniston, a fellow Holloway graduate and theatre lover. 

Matt reviews the Lego Batman film, we hark back to some old conversations from 2016 including a run down of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, how bad Suicide Squad was and Iasha talks musicals and lack of tap with Half a Sixpence. 

Next show Matt's reviewing Fifty Shades Darker, and if there is a show not to miss this year, it's that one. So much awkward. 

 

This week, Matt joins Iasha to review Moana and speculate about what Arts Strat and Alex are going to be doing in the New Year.
