Join Iasha Matt and Vikki in the studio for a jam packed show of reviews, interviews and arts chat.
Matt reviews new Tom Hardy film Legend and we kick off interviews with the cast and crew of Blackshaw's upcoming production of Staying Alive.
We hear from Ellie Pitkin the Director, Eleanor Burke who plays Jenn and Alexander Pankhurst playing the character of Jack. Helen Johnson talks to them about the challenges of putting on a show with such a complex subject at the heart of it.
Vikki talks in her Arts Thing Of The Week about the huge age gaps between women and men in film. Highlighting something that sometimes goes unnoticed (not by Buzzfeed though) this symposium on Gender in Media aims to enlighten the audience about the gender imbalance at the heart of the film industry.
Matt reviews Pomona, playing at the National up until the 10th of November, which is exactly the date that Staying Alive at the Pleasance starts! Tickets here

This week on the show Matt was in the studio reviewing American Ultra, and we discussed how well the genre mash up works in this particular film.
We heard a New Writing Night piece called Age Uk, written by Kat Roberts that was first heard at Blakshaw’s last New Writing Night back in July.
Next up was Vikki with this week’s Arts Thing Of The Week. She discussed all the theatre that is coming up this Autumn in London and in the studio we talked about what we are going to be seeing and reviewing for you on the coming weeks of The Blackshaw Arts Hour.
Helen joined us in the studio and reviewed the Greek tragedy, Bakkai playing at the Almeida theatre in Islington.
We also exclusively announced the Blackhaw’s upcoming Scare Slam! Taking place at the Horse and Stables on Wednesday the 25th of November all the info can be found here! Come along if you want to hear an evening of terrifying tales, which will then be played later on in the year as a full length show right here on The Blackshaw Arts Hour.
Coming towards the end of the show we heard a piece of new writing entitled The Open Road, written and performed by Perry Sophocleous, another piece that was on the stage for the first time at our New Writing Night back in July.

This week on the show, Matt, Alex and Iasha are in the studio with new writing to play and lots of reviews.
First up Matt reviews the new pixar film Inside Out and we talk in the studio about what it takes to make us cry in films.
Next up is Alex talking about a new production of A Midsummer Night's Dream that he is appearing in in a few weeks. The play is on at the Tea House theatre from the 10th - 12th of September and all the details can be found here.
We also played "Have You Seen Spiderman 2?" a piece of new writing we recording last year, written by Joe Banks and performed by Grace Felton and Smith Lowe.
Vikki came to us via pre-record to review some of the shows she saw a few weeks ago at the Edinburgh Fringe and then Helen Johnson reviewed the Cyphers Chekov double bill that was performed at The Proud Archivist a couple of weeks back.
Next up on the show was part 2 of The Whistling Room following up from the last Blackshaw Arts Hour where we left you halfway through an original Carnacki story read by our very own Matt Boothman.

This week on the show we have a new voice on the Blackshaw Arts Hour. Rebecca joins us as one of Blackshaw's new recruits and helps us out on our 21st show (!)
Matt reviews Mission Impossible 5 and we have a discussion about Tom Cruises age (he's 53 for those playing at home). We hear some poetry from Daisy Thurston - Gent and then Vikki brings us the Arts Thing Of The Week.
This week Viks focusses on the Edinburgh Fringe and give us four top picks to go and see and also a further four top theatre picks for Londoners who aren't heading up to Edinburgh .
We also played part 1 of The Whistling Room, read by our very own Matt Boothman, tune in next week to hear part two!
